Lost Husky returned to unhoused woman by kind dog owner after it escaped car and ran loose on beach where it slept the night before, rescuer says: ‘Other people described as not well and for all I know this might be her support dog.’

Sometimes when you rescue a doggo you aren't only rescuing a beloved family member/pet, but someone's entire social world. That is what one dog momma did for another when she brought her pupper home.

Dog lovers come in all shapes and sizes. After all, there are so many different dogs out there that it only makes sense that there would be a dog out there for each and everyone of us. But in this case our rescuer was left with an ethical conundrum over whether to return the doggo to their dog mom. For this doggo's mama turned out to be unhoused, which is how the doggo got loose in the first place. Now, under normal circumstances one can most definitely say that the doggo is being neglected and deserves a better home than the one he has.


But seeing as he literally does not have a home because his pawrent does not, the rules kinda change. Which prompted our rescuing pupper pawrent to return the doggo to its pawrent in the slim hope that them being together is better overall than them being apart.

  • Wowza, we sure are dropping into this story with some heat behind us. But that is what you have to come to expect from these kinds of animal rescue stories. You never quite know how bad or difficult the situation the doggo is found in is going to be and thankfully this one is not great but a whole heap better than most we come across. Not only that, but we are lucky enough to have a hooman skilled in the ways of the doggo present to help tempt this pupper into the care of someone who can help it.

  • Stories of doggo neglect like this are truly the toughest to stomach. At the end of the day we are talking about someone who is incredibly vulnerable already in life, and whose only source of constant and nonjudgemental contact and conversation is with the dog she keeps in her car/home. The world can be an incredibly lonely place, especially when you are living on the fringes of society and we cannot blame this unhoused lady for trying to keep her mind from unravelling by living with her canine companion. We just hope she can get better and give her doggo the same dedication and devotion it has given to her.

    Forgot to mention, dog had no collar. She smells pretty bad but is fairly healthy, her nails are trimmed and her mouth and gums seem ok. She is very mellow and has not barked or shown any signs of aggression.
